Guess who we asked to Harper's retirement party?

November 6, 2011 • Posted in Seeing Eye dogs, Uncategorized by
Note to my blind blog readers: Today is Harper’s last day on the job, and Hanni came to town with our friends Steven and Nancy to wish him a happy retirement. It was a small party, just four humans and two loveable loyal dogs. This post is a series of photos of the two of them Partying together at our apartment.

Whole lotta dogs going on. Hanni is still an affection hound.

That's Nancy of Nancy and Steven, who were kind enough to bring Hanni up from Urbana for the party.

What a bittersweet blessing to have Harper and Hanni together. Best wishes to all on this new leg of the journey.

Thanks to you both for the good wishes — the little party was wayyyyyy more sweet than bitter, just right to have both “H” dogs here with us at once.

It looks like Hanni’s filling Harper in about AARP. Gonna be kind of quiet around their for a few weeks…..

Best to all! Gotta say, their conversation doesn’t seem to be of the “how to survive” variety. Rather more like “and then, and then, and then, oh you’re just gonna love retirement!”

Definitely *is* quiet around here, working hard to focus on what fun both of these dogs are having now enjoying their well-deserved retirements, you know, rather than thinking about HOW MUCH WE MISS THEM!.

What a sweet get together – our best to Harper who will always be one of our favorite dogs!! Good luck on your next journey Beth!

Thanks so much, Jenny. Harper’s fan club is growing and growing…

Hope my retirement is as nice!

I think it will be — you can take naps all day, play when you want to, and best of all, you’ll be surrounded by people who love you.

Such a lovely farewell to Harper–and wonderful to see Hanni again. Sending good wishes to all. Thanks for posting, Beth.

Great pictures of two beautiful dogs (oh and you too Beth). I know they will be just fine in retirement, and you will be good with whatever wonderful new dog comes your way.

I know you’re right about the dogs (beauties with good retirement plans) I just hope your judgement turns out to be right about *me*, , too, Gretchen!

Thanks again for having AnnMarie over for the pre-party. She had a wonderful time…as always!! xo, Janet

Yes, it was perfect: Baby Flo was there for the Pre-party, and after Hanni left we brought Harper over to see Flo before we took him to the retirement home in Wheaton. Perfect bookends, and trust me, Harprer loved every minute of it.

Great photo of your reunion with Hanna. It looks like she knows where she is. Farewell Harper. My best to you in your retirement.

Yes, Hanni seemed to be right at home with us. She is such a friendly girl, though, that she seems right at home wherever she goes!
