I’ve been immersed in working with my editor at Golden Alley Press, putting on the finishing touches, and proofreading with Mike’s help. So, to be honest, I’m sort of all written out.
Except to say this: If you’re interested in Writing Out Loud, which chronicles my learning to teach a memoir class for seniors, and learning about their remarkable and rich lives: there’s good news. The e-book will be out any day now.
The print version will take a bit longer, and I’m in contact with the National Library Service to see that it will be produced in audio and Braille editions for people who are blind or visually impaired as well. To be among the first to be notified when it’s available in the e-book version this week , please, please, please sign up for my newsletter today.
Thanks to all of you for your patience. I think you’re going to like what you read.
I’m looking forward to buying your book when it comes out. E-books are not my forte. Congrats, Beth!!
Oh, Sheila, I do understand. Maybe you can go total nostalgic and head to Sandmeyer’s on S. Dearborn to buy Writing Out Loud from a real live bookstore when the print version comes out.
Beth, I’m in the same camp as Sheila. But, can’t wait to read your new creation when it is available in print. Based on your blogs and previous publications, I can only imagine this will be the best yet. Bravo to you (and of course the ever raconteur Monday Mike).
Oh, I hope you’re right and readers do consider Writing Out Loud as one of my best. Mike devoted most of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to reading the galleys out loud to me so that, together, we could find any last-minute misspellings or inaccuracies. It was his first time reading this manuscript. I was a bit anxious about it all, and while I don’t recommend anyone sit down and read the entire thing in one ssitting, I will say this:
Mike laughed, he cried, he liked it. I hope you will, too – thanks so much for your ongoing encouragement, Mel.
Beth I don’t know what I just did, but if I signed up for an e-book I don’t really want that. I want the print version when it comes out. Looking forward to reading your new book. I know it will be very good.
Just checked with the folks at Golden Alley Press and they assure me the e-book is not live on Amazon yet, so Nancy, don’t you worry. You couldn’t have ordered the e-book by mistake, it isn’t available quite yet.
Publisher says getting it from transcript to e-book usually only takes a day or two, sometimes even faster.
